Surprise During the Maternity Shoot!
Maternity pictures are a fun way to remember the beauty of pregnancy without remembering the aches and pains that come along with it. Typically, a shoot lasts 45 minutes to an hour and the mother is anywhere between 28 and 36 weeks pregnant. During that stage, the mother usually has a very visible baby bump, but isn’t too uncomfortable to participate in the shoot.
When Beverly arrived for our scheduled Maternity shoot, she was running a little behind. I definitely have grace for pregnant women in these situations because they are taking on a major life change. It’s worth noting that this is going to be the FIFTH child for this couple and she deserved extra grace on that particular day… because she was in active labor!
This was the moment I realized that I don’t know as much about pregnancy as I thought that I did. She was walking okay (a little winded) and smiling. She would pause for a contraction every now and then, but kept her composure. During the shoot I kept asking if she was okay and if she needed to rest. She would giggle at me and tell me that she is fine, she just may need to run to the hospital if it got worse. It’s safe to say that I was more nervous than she was.
At one point, she even pulled off this move while reminiscing about being a cheerleader:
Beverly continued to power through to get these. pictures. She said that she always wanted a Maternity shoot, but this was the first time she was able to get one. Her patience and temperament were unbelievable! The shoot lasted about 75 minutes and she was a trooper!
Update: She had the baby. Beverly and baby Henry are doing great!
