Maternity Love - Katie's Experience

Hi gang!

I was so excited to meet up with Katie and Tyler at UK Arboretum for a stunning – and terribly sweet – maternity session. At the time, Katie was mere weeks away from giving birth, so you can only imagine how she was feeling while we were roaming around finding the best spots to shoot! She was a trooper, though, let me tell you. Her skin looked amazing, her hair was perfection, and her dress was on point. “I was 35 weeks pregnant. It was perfect timing, I didn’t mind walking or getting up and down (with a little help) at all. My baby belly was a great size to see in photos.”

Not to mention, Tyler was a total rock star the entire time. When I asked Katie how Tyler has been through all of this, she said, “This Daddy has been so supportive during my pregnancy. I’ve gotten countless foot rubs and back rubs when things just seem to hurt. Taken daily walks with me, even when we’ve had to walk SLOW. He has been my positive light and voice of reason, especially with my crazy hormones. He ’s come home from work with McDonalds french fries more times than I count and has eaten Chick-fil-A with me for about a million meals. I’ve been ALL about the salty snacks, and he has been all about keeping me happy.”

When asked is she had any tips for future mothers who want maternity pictures, she said, “Advice for the session: RELAX. You are working some magic in your belly, let Sara work the camera magic!! Also, don’t wait too long to have maternity photos done, my face, legs, and feet started swelling the closer I got to my due date.”

I asked them about their experience taking maternity photos, “I was self conscious in general about having maternity photos done. “I don’t FEEL pretty” kept replaying in my head. My outfit helped me and having my husband there to hype me up helped as well. I sure FELT prettier as the shoot progressed, which really showed in my photos.”

How did they pick their baby’s name? “We had a name picked as soon as we found out we were having a baby boy, Nelson David. Nelson comes from my side of the family, my grandfather passed away about a month before we got pregnant, we chose the name Nelson honoring him. My husbands first name is David and his dad’s name has David in it as well, it’s a perfect fit to carry on with our baby as well.”

They’re going to be an amazing Mom and Dad duo, and their little bundle of joy, Nelson David, is so lucky to be brought into the world with them. Thanks again and congrats, you two! Check out some of the shots we got below:

Sara did SUPER GREAT with my maternity photos. My husband and I are more than pleased with how they turned out. She truly made me feel so beautiful, like I had the pregnant “glow” - and it’s evident from the photos.
