Marriage, Christmas, and COVID!

December weddings can be tricky, especially in Kentucky. We have bipolar weather, lots of religious events occupying venues, and then you add COVID to the mix… Wow. When I met Brooke at the Diamond Rings & Pretty Things bridal show in Lexington, Kentucky on January 11th, neither of us knew that the world was going to be dramatically changed in a short amount of time. She contacted me the very next day and we planned out the details of her December wedding.
I offer a free engagement shoot to all of my brides as a thank you for choosing Cozyshoppe and as we began to plan the location of the photo shoot, we ran into some issues. Some places were completely closed because of the virus, while others demanded that guests keep their masks on and maintain a 6 ft distance. Neither of those things work with closeup photography.
When the wedding drew closer, I reached out in September to make sure that no details had changed. At that point, her wedding was still on and she may not have any restrictions. By November, I reached out again. Her ceremony had to be downsized because of rules by our Governor. Not only that, but she had to reschedule her reception to a second day! Normally, the cost of adding a second day would be significant. I know that many brides had to cancel their weddings, postpone them, and make many concessions for the new regulations that were put in place. I consulted with my team and we decided that since none of this was fair to the couple, we would do it at cost.
The wedding day was an anxious one. Attendees didn’t show up because they were worried about the virus. Some only came to the ceremony OR reception, instead of both. I could tell this was weighing on the bride and groom. Despite the circumstances, they decided they were going to have a great time and both days went great! Brooke looked gorgeous, Dylan was handsome in his suit, and they both displayed some great dance moves. You can see their highlight reel here or view below.
